Choosing a Lisbon stag do may just endear you for life to your fellow travellers. Lisbon remains off-the-beaten track for many weekend groups, but has so many things going for it (with hardly any “cons”) that this could be the second most important lifestyle decision the stag is involved in this year.
With more character, more soul, more caipirinhas, more cod and more custard, than most cities these days, this is the ideal weekend city. Lisbon is the Atlantic Capital that presided over Portugal’s colonial heyday with style.
The place drips with a romance and passion for life that will remain indelibly imprinted on your hearts and mind. Walk (or stagger) its irregular streets, ascend its hills by foot or in a tram, drink its wine, beer or sample the marvellous cuisine. Oh…and it will cost you maybe 20% less than most other stag weekend locations in Europe!
Lisbon is the heart of Portugal, the capital and the biggest city is Portugal’s star attraction. One of the oldest cities in the world enjoys a Mediterranean climate, it has some of the warmest winters in Europe and a typical summer lasting 6 months. So good to great weather for your Lisbon stag do is almost guaranteed. Can you picture the blue skies and imagine the sun on your face yet?
The hilltop district of Bairro Alto is lined with restaurants and bars, buzzing with people day and night, partying until the sun comes up, at which point a few beers or a caiprinha certainly come in handy. Lisbon’s rooftop bars are also spectacular and unique. On a Lisbon stag do, you won’t get much sleep! And if you are one of those lads who have a real penchant for a bit of Lisbionism: the (female) people-watching can be rather spectacular!
If clubbing is your thing then Lisbon has some great clubs to get you and your stag on his dancing feet. The old red light district, now one of the most fashionable districts in Portugal, has wall to wall bars where a local caipirinha is a must for any Lisbon stag do. If you’re in the mood to get sweaty then Lounge is a great option for a packed crowd and great DJs.
After a hard day and night bar and club hopping then nearby beaches could be just the thing. Take in some sun, sea, sand and gorgeous views while getting ready for round 2 or 3!
