Our Liga matchday 10 report discerns a new star at the Calderon.Yannick Carrsaco, Atleti’s Belgian rising star is now being likened to a whippet (by pundits who maybe had one Belgian too many…). Well he IS fast and exciting and he looks the part. He scored two of the goals that helped Atletico cruise to a 4 – 2 home defeat of Juande Ramos’s Malaga at the Vicente Calderón.
Liga Matchday 10 – Atletico 4 Málaga 2
Carrasco is fab ! Gamiero, also looking fab, till he was substituted in the 74th minute, scored the other two for Atletico. In a 6-goal thriller the boquerón-munchers also got two goals, Sandro and Camacho scoring.
Barcelona 1 Granada 0 – Barça in dullsville!
With most punters expecting an 8 goal thrashing of lowly Granada (well certainly the rabidly drunken ones in our Barcelona office) Barcelona, perhaps missing Iniesta, failed to turn it on and struggled to win one-nil. But Rafinha (is he Barcelona’s Little Car-rascal for 2017 ?) did nothing to damage his status as rising star of the Barça team with a spectacular chip to score the only goal of the match.
Alavés 1 Real Madrid 4 – unflattering to the locals
Few were fooled when Alavés opened the scoring after 7 minutes (Deyverson) – Madrid after all, have conceded goals in their last 9 matches…After that it was all plain sailing and back to normal as Madrid rolled in 4 goals, a hat-trick from a bloke called Ronaldo and one from, yup, him, Morata. Madrid hang on to their leading position in La Liga.
