Douro River boat rental
- 2 hour or 3 hour Douro River Cruise: Available every day of the year with start times available all day.
- Cruises depart from Douro Marina, near Porto city centre (approx 15 mins in a cab journey)
- Discover the historic and majestic city of Porto. See the old town by the river, bridges and historic sites.
- Includes exclusive boat with skipper, boat, fuel, insurance and crew.
- Not included: Accommodation, food & beverage (unless booked additionally), visits to museums and wineries

- Need transport to the marina for this activity? We can offer a low-priced Porto minivan transfer.
- Part of the sail takes place near the mouth of the River Douro. The Atlantic has to be taken seriously and can be choppy.
- The main part of the sail wil take pace in the calm river area near the city.
- Your crew will always conduct the cruise with safety in mind, and at all times and you must heed the rules and advice of the crew.
- Private cruises are available all year around.
- Drinks and/or food are not included in the standard rental rates. You can bring your own drinks on board (for a small additional cleaning fee) - or book drinks or food with us..
- It is your responsibility to arrive at least 15 mins before sailing time at the dockside
- Remember this is near the Atlantic Ocean and at certain times of the year the seas can be choppy or weather may not be 100% calm.
- The vessels described on this page are sailing boats. If you wish to book a catamaran, please discuss this explicitly with us.
- You should take care not to get belongings wet or damaged, this is your responsibility, not that of the crew or captain.
- Capacity of the vessels varies and could be changed at last minute.
- Transport to the departure point is not included, but ask us if you would like to book transport from your hotel.
- The crew and captain are mainly concerned about your safety, as well as your enjoyment. Drunken misbehaviour or nuisance-causing will not be tolerated.
- The captain's decisions about whether it is safe to sail, based on weather conditions, will be final.
- Sailings sometimes have to be cancelled due to weather conditions. If this happens we or the crew will always endeavour to let you know as far in advance as possible.
- In the unusual event of changes or cancellations at last minute, we will always attempt to make alternative arrangements for you at other times. Credit card details might be given to the supplier on arrival as damage guarantee.
Porto Boat charter for river sail
Charter your own Porto boat for a glorious afternoon gadding around on the heavenly Douro River. And is you are on a hen do (or stag weekend) add a few drinks or tapas food at minimal extra cost. Our Douro river private boats set sail from the main marina in Porto (Ribeira do Porto or Douro marina).
Your Porto boat hire duration can be 2 or 3 hours. The boats have a capacity of 12 or 14 persons, and come in various shapes and sizes:
- Standard: 10 metres
- Queen Size: 12 metres
- Imperial Size: 14 metres (recommended for 3 hour sails)
In general we recommend the larger boat for longer sails so you’ll have more space to chill out. If you need a vessel for up to 16, check out our Catamaran Oporto by The Spain Event. Or, if you’re group size is higher than that let us know, we can get you Portugal’s version of the QE2 if necessary!
Departing Douro Marina
We recommend that all hen groups cruise the wonderful Rio Douro, and enjoy privileged views of the historic and impressive buildings and bridges of Porto city.

The starting point, Douro marina is just a short cab ride from Porto city centre (you can also book a minivan transfer with us). You’ll sail under the famous iron bridges and along past the wine cellars on the Vila Nova de Gaia side of the city. You can chill out, sunbathe and have a drink of wine or beer. There is no doubt that this is the best way to set up a memorable event for your hen do in Porto (stags are also welcome!).
Note: we also offer boat rentals from Freixo Marina, another harbour near Porto city.
Chill for the afternoon and make a trip of it
All of our Porto hen weekenders love this activity! From the deck, watch the wineries and historic buildings like the of Porto centre. You’ll see the wine barges (or rabelos in colloquial Porto-ese!) and we reckon you will be thrilled by the view.
