Valencia Karting Stag Action
On one of those wonderful sunny days by the Mediterranean we took Ed and his budding stag Formula One drivers to the go-kart races in Valencia. Valencia karting is one of those days when the sky is so blue that the next think you are gonna do is inevitably, have a San Miguel. The stag lads enjoyed our karting format which consists of three races, heats, race and final. It’s one of the most popular adrenalin stag weekend activities (second only to the pit stop and refuel) – a brilliant day out near the beach in Valencia . The karts are in immaculate racing condition (just wish the stags were).
Valencia karting stags drive groom round bend!
Ed’s group booked an afternoon of splendid fast action at the karts track near the beach in Valencia. They set about the steering like budding Hamiltons and Alonso (although there were some inelegant skids and thuds). All in all it fit the bill for what this stag group was looking for in sunny Valencia.
Our guide Eunice said:
It was a please to meet Ed and the boys , take them out and get them sorted out with a Valencia karting grand prix. They gave me a bit of banter but I took it in good part. I am not sure they will be challenging Fernando Alonso for world’s best driver that soon…
Stag Do Valencia | The Tradition
Your Stag Do Valencia style starts with a bang on the door, the call to arms. Day Two has arrived but you can’t quite recall day one ending. The head hurts and your eyes are dazed from the sunlight pouring into the room via a crack in the curtain. A groan and a lumbering roll onto your back, head hurts a little more. You reach for your watch. 9:30. Another groan. You’ve been asleep three hours. The door bangs again. Time to move, things to do, beer to be drunk. The groan becomes a giggle, memories of last night creeping in. Giggle becomes a laugh. The door bangs again. You’re up, you’re ready to go. This is how you Stag Do Valencia Style.
You arrived yesterday lunchtime, spirits high from high spirits…
The limo ride from the airport to the hotel in Rio Turia. Nice gaff but there was no time to lose. At the end of the day, it has a bed, a bar and a shower. That’ll do for now.
You dumped your bags, convened in the bar for a throat loosening Cruzcampo and then it’s off to the Mestalla. If you’re a football lover, it’s got to be done. There’s more to Spanish football than Barca and Real, after all. Valencia’s home. Where the David’s played: Villa and Silva. Where Gerry Armstrong’s goal helped Northern Ireland beat Spain at World Cup 82. Proper football stadium.
A stag do Valencia style that harks back to the 1982 World Cup…eh….
After that you headed back into town, another rendezvous at the hotel bar and a meet up with the local dude for pub crawl briefings. A few looseners to get the evening started and then it’s into town.
Which is where things start to go a bit hazy. A few names you recall, a lot of laughs.
La Taberna Reina, Cafe Negrito – the beer replaced by shots somewhere around 11. More music, more moving to new venues, a constant pulse. Friday night in Valencia – stags and hens in the streets, the locals arriving late to bid adios to another working week.
Because this is how you stag do Valencia style.
And now…
Breakfast served, stomach lined. Which is just as well because you’re blob jumping all day. WTF is blob jumping? The question you all asked, before you left. Now, you’re about to find out.
OMG/WTF
You go first, stand on the blob on the lake. Your team mates high above, waving from the platform. Maybe waving, maybe some other hand gesture. Can’t tell from down here. Then they jump.
The 5m leap onto blob, no time to back out as you’re propelled skywards. A scream – bit girly to be fair – then a plummet as gravity takes hold.
This is unique way to cure a hangover.
You spend the afternoon blobbing, everyone launching into the lake like cows from the French Castle in the Holy Grail. Battered and tired, laughing at your ungainly friends. It must be time for a beer.
Back to town, a review of the day with golden refreshment in the bar. Some tucker and into town. Valencia starting to come alive around 1030. Really coming alive as Saturday becomes Sunday.
It’s a bit of a club crawl, a lay down in Laydown to gather your energy for the final push towards dawn. And then onto Noise, living up to its name, pulsing sounds as you spend your final reserves of energy among the throng of the busy dance floor. Night is becoming day and the call of the bed finally comes.
Three more hours before the bang on the door, the call to arms.
And the flight home.
Because this is how you stag do Valencia style.
Here’s Why Valencia for Stags
From London to Valencia. 5 years in and I’m still in love with this amazing city! How come, I hear you ask. For Valencia things to do, well there are tons of restaurants, bars, clubs, beautiful people, passionate footy fans and shed loads to do and see. All at some of the cheapest prices in Spain,
I don’t get how anyone could not fall in love with this place! People are starting to hear about how great VLC is so get in there quick and choose this brilliant destination for your stag do and you will not be disappointed. My mates and I had an absolute blast and will definitely be returning as many times as we can blag off work. Here’s some of the main reasons you’re gonna love it..
Valencia things to do: stag heaven!
Be a beach bum.
Valencia has some of the warmest climates in Spain and the mildest winters. This means that the huge central beach is always packed and a great place to hang out with friends and have a few ice cold beers. The best spot on the beach, and the best for checking out all the talent, is in front of Pans Company restaurant. This is where all the hotties hang out. The party part of the beach – almost everyone takes food, drinks and music down with them. And don’t forget to look out for the old (singing) man in thong who inexplicably, is always surrounded by hot women!
Further up from this spot, toward the port, you have the area called Las Arenas. Here you can get food and drinks, play pool and hang out listening to some pretty decent tunes. The bars here are busy in the evening in the summer months and a great place for some pre-drinks before clubbing. Speaking of clubbing, Las Animas is one to check out. It’s at the end of the Las Arenas strip. Sometimes the music can be a bit hit and miss but the venue is fantastic! It’s one giant roof top terrace! And it is always busy.
Valencia things to do: Go football mad.
Spain loves its footy. And the Valencian people are no exception. There are loads of busy, bars with great atmospheres to watch the footy (St. Patrick’s is the best for any Premier League game) but even better is to catch a game at the Mestalla stadium. The atmosphere beforehand is always buzzing and the restaurants and bars around it packed out in and on the street.
Valencia things to do: Beer o’clock.
Socialising is one of this city’s most popular past times. In my humble, blog writing opinion the two best areas around are Carmen and Russafa. Both have an almost endless amount of bars, some with dance floors, all with party loving people. They are also great areas to eat in beforehand. If you’re looking for a stag and hen group mecca then Carmen is the one, for a more laid back, cool and trendy vibe, then Russafa hits the nail on the head.
Valencia things to do: To Club or not to Club?
I’m not going to lie. Some of the clubs in Valencia are really cheesy. Luckily for you there a few damn good ones. I’ve already mentioned Las Animas at the beach but for me the best one has to be Umbracle. The venue alone is worth the entrance fee. For your money you get Umbracle and MYA downstairs – which is always rammed. La Premier is also good. Clubs here don’t get busy until after 1am though and people don’t leave until 6, 7 or even 8am, so be prepared for a long night!
Valencia things to do: You’re gonna need a bigger boat.
One of my fav Valencia things to do in the summer is a catamaran cruise. The Saturday lunchtime and sunset ones are great. The food is good, the DJ plays some banging tunes and the free bar is awesome! I did literally miss the boat once for being 5 minutes late, so my advice would be, don’t be late.
Valencia things to do: Butting heads with a (baby) bull. As you do.
The ultimate Spanish experience and one that is guaranteed to have you in stitches – the laughing kind not the hospital one! Basically you get in the ring and the locals let out a baby bull for you to try and avoid. Simple. And very, very funny. It’s nothing like the real thing, which is a very good thing, as the baby bull is not hurt in any way. I can’t guarantee the same for you though! No seriously it’s only a baby. A baby with horns that can knock you off you feet, but still a baby.
So there you have it. Some great Valencia things to do and some of the many reasons Valencia rocks! I’ll see you there. Mines a San Miguel. Cheers. Claire Wilson, The Spain Event
Valencia Nightscene | Coolest clubs for going out
In recent years the Valencia nightscene has slowly but surely developed into one of the coolest to head to for your stag weekend. Come the night this beautiful, vibrant city comes alive as the multitudinous bars and clubs pulsate to cool tunes as the city parties hard and, as is generally the way in Spain, long into the small hours before dawn. If you’re looking for a bit of class, good food, endless drink, fun-filled days and hard-partying nights then Valencia has it all, wrapped up among the chic streets of this stylish, historic city.
And when you go, it’d be worth a look into some of these Valencia nightscene hotspots,
L’Umbracle – Mya
If you’ve come to the Valencia nightscene to dance then L’Umbracle – Mya is where you need to head for. A true late night party club located in the Arts and Science district in the city centre the club has the unique distinction of being an open air club.
It’s one of the more pricey places in the city to get into but once inside (or rather, outside) you’ll be in for a hard party night. The dance floor is large and generally busy although, with the night air and a view of the stars above helps staves off too much in the way of the sweaty faced syndrome when pogoing the night away.
There’s a playlist of standard chart music in the main dance area with a more electronic vibe in the smaller dance floor inside. The fun doesn’t get going until around 1am and goes hard until dawn.
Radio City
A mix of the vibrant and the cultural this is a venue at the heart of traditional Valencia nightlife. With live music and shows from modern to traditional flamenco the club boasts an eclectic atmosphere that seems to attract admirers from all backgrounds. Another venue to party into the night and a popular stop off point for many a bar and club crawl on a stag weekend. Each night tends to be different with opportunities to enjoy the beer and atmosphere or dance to a varied blend of tunes. As the night wears on the place can get crowded so get I before midnight if you want to spend time in the club.
