Lisbon Flamenco Class

The Iberian way

  • All of these timings are ultra-flexible as long as you are booking in advance!
  • 1540: Arrive at your central flamenco location (we'll make sure you have all of the details on your voucher after you book).
  • 1600: Flamenco Class begins – we move at a pace you dictate!
  • 1730: Class ends and on the way back to change before the big Flamenco night out, let our guide recommend a watering hole for a cava, or sherry – the authentic drink of the Flamenco fraternity!
  • Our monitor – a professional expert Flamenco teacher.
  • Your own session at a private dance School.
Make sure you get the most from the class, and avoid injury, by getting the clothing right. Dresses, skirts and loose trousers are great, and the footwear is essential. Wearing the right shoes and remember the heels are important to get that real flamenco sound. There’s nothing more uninspiring than a Flamenco dancer in flip flops or flats, so get it right and avoid being thrown out of the Sevilla Cigarette factory…  below are some tips from our Flamenco experts: We know you love tottering around on them, but…AVOID HIGH HEELS, ESPECIALLY STILETTOS! Not only do these limit the Flamenco steps you can learn, they can also be dangerous! IDEALLY, WEAR STURDY LOW-HEELED SHOES– these support your ankles and make the heel actions easier. Now you are worthy of a little respect down Andalucia way… If in doubt wear a pair of boots. Chunky low BOOTS WITH STURDY HEELS ARE PREFERABLE TO HIGH HEELS! At least you can stamp with confidence.
  • See the note above on what to wear on your feet: use shoes that support your feet and ankles, no stilleto heels. Flip-flops are a total no-no!
  • Sturdy heels will help you make the right stamping sounds, and that is half the battle!
  • Let us know if you’d like to arrange a Flamenco Dancing Night out to practice your moves!
Lisbon Hen Do

Your private dance lesson

Well who if not The Spain Event would bring you all the thrills and giggles of Spanish artistic dancing, but in the heart of Lisbon’s capital? Yes, a Lisbon flamenco class is what we offer by public demand from our loyal hens.

Such is the appeal of this beautiful art form (and such is the panache of the bubbly that goes with it) that flamenco dancing has now hit Lisbon in a big way. Portuguese prancers and Spanish dancers are pretty much co-conspirators anyway, and they both love to stomp the boards with true feminine Iberian authority.

Portuguese flamenco at it finest

For two countries that have such common roots it was never gonna take long. Those same intertwined roots have produced the beautiful Fado music, Lisbon tapas and Spanish or Portuguese wine tasting so why not a flamenco dance lass for hen in Lisbon ? Just as in Fado music, Lisbon ladies love the passion, the pose, the hand movements and the rather demonstrative steps. ¡Olé!

Looking for other Lisbon hen weekend ideas? Try our Lisbon pole dance masterclass. Or, shake yourselves and get ready for the big night with a Lisbon cocktail mixing session. We are also tops in Lisbon for well-priced and superbly-located Lisbon apartment rentals and hotel bookings, especially for hen groups.

Our Lisbon Flamenco class is informal and fun, but taught by genuine flamenco dance experts (who will let you know where you can see a Flamenco Show performed in Lisbon if you wish). Your teachers show you through all of the hand and arm movements, basic body posture, the idiosyncratic clapping, footwork, tapping, all coordinated with basic steps.
