Feel the soul of Porto fado

A truly authentic Portuguese night activity lasting one hour or so. Porto fado is a worthy addition to your Porto hen weekend and a fine start to the evening. You may not understand the words (they’ll be in Portuguese) but anyone with a heart will feel the passion in the music and the delivery of the singers. And anyone with a glass of Porto wine or two to add might just start getting a bit emotional….

Fado grew up in the bask streets of Old Lisbon, but you’ll now hear world-class fado performed in Porto. A Portuguese music genre steeped in tradition the songs follow a particularly wistful, downbeat sounding structure that perfectly fit the Portuguese saying ‘saudade’, symbolising a feeling of loss and regret and its everlasting effect.

You Porto fado show uses the classic Portuguese guitar, a similar sound to the Spanish instrument. The music is alluring, melancholic and soulful expressing powerful emotions.

Well we are not suggesting the hen should get all teary necessarily, we will make sure you know exactly where to go later in Porto to get dancing and partying after this sessions of thoughtful and emotional music.

The singers and guitarists will perform for you for one hour and we’ll include a nice glass of local Port wine.

This show really was something different. The screen images with the music worked really well and the musicians were fantastic. I wasn’t sure if I’d like the music but it was so moving we all got into it. We carried on in the area all night. It all made for a really good, different experience.
